Broken (commish) by SpyroConspirator Broken (commish) by SpyroConspirator
A commission for ~Lex-the-Pikachu, for his story Broken Steel. I was experimenting with a new-ish style. I like working in stark lines and shadows, but I also like adding color. I wasn't really happy with how I did it for the Calamity pic, so I thought I'd try it this way. I think I like this more; what do you guys think? Is it an improvement over the black and white?

:iconlex-the-pikachu:'s story (as well as the original black and white version of this picture) can be found in the gallery on his page. The characters, Appletart "Longshot" and raider friend, are his.
The original Fallout: Equestria can be found here: [link] , and belongs to Kkat
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic belongs to Hasbro.
Fallout belongs currently to Bethesda

Yes. Context! This... this I can provide. Um.
I honestly never read the whole thing, I just worked off of the description he gave me. The black-and-white version of this picture on his profile [link] provides the context, though.
Actually, since I didn't read the story, I sort of developed my own head cannon that makes sense exclusively in the context of the picture, and it's kind of like a buddy comedy. Appletart is the one with a tragic backstory who has both awesome snapping and (gun) sniping abilities, and Raider is the straight-man who has awesome (verbal) sniping abilities and is also a cannibal. Occasionally. So there's this tension the whole time they're traveling together about whether she'll shoot him or he'll eat her, and hi-jinks ensue. They're both trying to defeat the same sinister cult, the Raider because the cult wouldn't let him in and Appletart because of her tragic backstory. This scene, I imagine, was actually started by Mr. Raider, who tried to eat her. Just an ear or something. Because, like, it's the post-apocalyptic wasteland, and he's friggin' hungry! But she likes her ears, because they play a role in her tragic backstory, so she's like "no way!" and decides to protect her ears with an ear-protecting-metal-apple. Because this technology exists because it's the post-apocalyptic future. Anyways, so the apple thingy knocks the raider down, and they're both kinda grimacing because the stupid thing is making a really annoying mechanical 'scree'ing sound. Anyways, the moral of the story is that it's a bit like "I am Legend" meets the 1987 "Dragnet" movie.

Yay, that's good. I have a habit of spending several extra hours on things thinking it'll "improve" it, only for it to turn out to have been a complete waste of time! =)

Very nice work Spyro. I thick the colour and shadows work well in this one. I like it a lot more than the black and white version. The scene feels more organic with the colour I think.

I'd suggest doing something with DKR Bane. The shadows would be absoperfectly terrifying.

ooo, that'd be cool. I still haven't actually seen Dark Knight Rises yet, though. T_T Maybe I'll watch it this weekend, and then I could try drawing Bane
Or... Pony Bane... HMMM...

This will sound strange, but if you loved Prometheus, there's a good chance you'll love The Dark Knight Rises. No spoilers, but it isn't quite as good as The Dark Knight. Bane though is awesome throughout the entire film.

Hmm... I didn't really like Prometheus, but I did like the Dark Knight, so I'll probably still like DKR. I just need to find the time to go!

I'm sort of the same with Prometheus. I liked some stuff about it but I disliked other stuff.
